READER BIOS
Nisi Shawl (they/them) is the award-winning author, co-author, and editor of over a dozen books, including the standard text on diverse representation in literature, Writing the Other; the alternate history Everfair; and two volumes of the New Suns anthology series. Recent titles include the horror-friendly story collection Our Fruiting Bodies and the Middle Grade historical fantasy Speculation. Shawl shares this hour-long reading with the Hugo Nauts, their 2023 Hugo House writing students. The Hugo Nauts are a dazzling array of polished veterans and emerging stars who are determined to lift you out of the mundane and into the extraordinary world of their visions.
